Geraldine's Boy

Twelve-year-old Robert's blind devotion to Geraldine Wilson, his beautiful young form mistress, is badly shaken when she refuses to rescue him from a caning. Once a model pupil, Robert becomes the naughtiest boy in the school and receives numerous slipperings on his bottom from the sadistic new Headmistress, Mrs Denny, who believes that justice should be seen to be done. When Robert's father finds out, he buys a cane and disciplines his son under Geraldine's direction. Parents are not obliged to observe the same limits on corporal punishment as teachers and when Geraldine become's Robert's stepmother, both she and Robert's father pull the boy's pants down, on separate occasions, and beat him in front of the class. Robert is regularly spanked at home and at school by a variety of characters, including fat, chain-smoking Mrs Parker, his big sister Veronica and her friend Felicity, who finds Robert's backside ‘cute'. It is the loving but severe discipline administered by Geraldine which influences Robert the most and he comes to appreciate his stepmother's concern for his physical and moral welfare. The two become close and, as Robert grows up, Geraldine guides him through the difficulties of life. She helps him to keep his job by telling the Managing Director of a novel way of enforcing office rules. Later she bails him out of a police station where he has received an extra-judicial birching. This book describes in poignant, and often painful detail, a young man's emergent feelings towards the opposite sex, the development of his respect for female authority and his admiration for a beautiful and strong-willed older woman.
